Editor Controversy over the use of the Tooele City Park at Broadway and 2nd North should be a warning to the Tooele City Planning and Zoning Commission to take a close look at present and future needs of parks in Too-ele. Growth of Tooele will make suitable land for parks less available and the demand for them will increase. Use of parks is varied and no one park at the present time fulfills all of the needs of any one neighborhood in Tooele. Recreational needs are not all being fulfilled under the present situation of only having two parks, developed or partially developed. What some neighborhoods will do when vacant lots disappear and are made into housing areas in the future is not clear. A long range plan that considers factors such as specified land use by property donors as is the case with the Broadway and 2nd North park, is badly needed. Land suitable for parks will continue to become more scarce and expensive. Edgemount's closing will leave land available either for parks or as property to trade for future park sites. Tomorrow may be too late to acquire the land best suited for the recreational and cultural needs of Tooele. BIT AND SPUR CLUB NEWS The monthly dinner meeting of the Tooele Bit and Spur Club will be held Friday, March 13, at 7:30 p.m. at the Clubhouse.
