Mr. Bryan who has fulfilled a LDS Mission in the Central Atlantic States is majoring in bacteriology and has been doing intern work at the Utah Valley Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Carver Mr. and Mrs. John Paul Scherlacher who spoke wedding vows, Aug. 23, cut their wedding cake at the reception that trimmed and was held at the Tooele Army Depot Officers Club. John Paul Scherlacher in an impressive double ring ceremony performed August 25 in the SI. Marguerites Catholic Church in Tooele. The bride is a daughter of Mr and Mrs. John Visher, Tooele, and parents of the groom are Professor and Mrs. John C. of Scherlacher Morgantown, West Virginia. THE BRIDES traditional white gown was of taffeta styled with a full skirt which swept in a chapel train. Embroidered applique enhanced the bodice and was repeated in the train. Long sleeves ended in lily points over her wrists and were fastened wi'h a row of self covered buttons The low, rounding neckline was set off by a single strand of pearls, a gift from the bridegroom. Her shoulder length veil of sheerest illusion fell from a tinv pill box hat. Mrs. Davis will be remembered as the former Miss .Edith Colburn of Tooele. She r.esided here thirty two years ago. MRS. DOROTHY ENGLAND LEU Sunday night for Wyoming where she was called due to the serious illness of her brother, Robert Rutledge, who is said to have suffered Pin-dal- a relapse after undergoing surgery. Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Bardwell, who spent most of the summer in Tooele have left for Yerington, Nevada where they will Mr. and Mrs. Howard Jackey, visit their daughter and before returning to their home in Sun City, Arizona. Recent guests at the home of Dr and Mrs T M Aldous were their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. C. Newell Aldous and children, Charles, Karen, and Susan, of Menlo Park, Calif. MR. AND MRS. VERN FRAGA have returned from a trip to Martinez, California. They were accompanied by Mrs. James S. Kelly, Jr., and daughter, Karen, who visited in Vallejo. Mr. and Mrs. Charles 0. F 'vPTl FROMEV CONSTITUTIONAL JOINT RESOLUTION PRO POSING TO AMEND ARTICLE XIII, SECTION 2 OF THE A CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF UTAH, RELATING TO TANGIBLE PROPERTIES EXEMPT FROM TAXATION Be it resolved by the Legislature of the State of Utah, two - thirds of all members elected to each of the Houses voting in favor thereof: Section 1. It is proposed to amend Article XIII, Section 2 of the Constitution of the State of Utah to read as follows: Section 2. All tangible property in the state, not exempt under the laws of the United States, or under this constitution shall be taxed in proportion to its value to be ascertained as provided by law. The property of the state, counties, cities, towns, school districts, municipal corporations and public libraries, lots with the buildings thereon used exclusively for either religious worship or charitable purposes, and places of burial not held or used for private or corporate benefit, shall he exempt from taxation. Water rights, ditches, canals, reservoirs, power plants, pumping plants, transmission lines, pipes and flumes owned and used by individuals or corporations for irrigating lands within the state owned by such individuals or corporations, or the individual members thereof, shall not he separately taxed as long as they shall be owned and used exclusively for such purposes. Power plants, power transmission lines and other property used for generating and delivering electrical power, a portion of which is used for furnishing power pumping water for irrigation purposes on lands in the State of I'tah, may be exempted from taxation to the extent that sueh property is used for such These exemptions purposes. shall accrue to the benefit of the users of water so pumped under such regulations as the legislature may prescribe. The taxes of the indigent poor may he remitted or abated at such times and in surh manner as mav be provided by law. The legislature may provide for the exemption from taxation of homes, homesteads, and person AMENDMENT No. 1 al property, not to exceed $2,000 in value for homes and homesteads, and all household and furniture, furnishings, equipment used exclusively by the owner thereof at his place of abode in maintaining a home for himself and family. Property not to exceed $3,000 in value, owned by disabled persons who served in any war in the milof the United itary service States or of the State of Utah and by the unmarried widows and minor orphans of such disabled persons or of persons who while serving in the military service of the United States or the State of Utah were killed in action or died as a result of such service may be exempted as the legislature may provide. The legislature shall provide by law for an annual tax sufficient, with other sources of revenue, to defray the estimated ordinary expenses of the state for each fiscal year. For the purpose of paying the state debt, if any there be, the legislature shall provide for levying a tax annually, sufficient to pay the annual interest and to pay the principal of such debt, within twenty years from the final passage of the law creating the debt. Section 2. The secretary of state is directed to submit this proposed amendment to the electors of the State of Utah in the next general election in the manner provided by law. Adams Miss Sandra Ann Massie, of Vallejo, Calif., became the bride of Dennis J Adams, on Saturday, July 28, at the St. Peter's Chapel at Mare Island. THE LOVELY BRIDE was escorted up the isle and given in marriage by her father, Branch R. Massie. The brides wedding gown, which was designed and made by her mother was of white slipper satin, floor length, fashioned with bodice of white chan-til- lv lare. Her veil of tulle was held in place by a tiara of seed pearls She carried a bouquet of carnations and gardinias. Mrs. Leonard Swensen served as Matron of Honor. She wore a street length gown of brocade pink satin and carried an old fashioned bouquet of white carnations.
