His homecoming has been set for this coming Sunday evening, in the Tooele First Ward, which is a free evening, due to fast day. The nominating system is a very good one "if a good representation of voters attend, but, if just a few show up, candidates are elected by the minority and often times do not represent the majority of townspeople. Interest in the Tooele nominating conventions has grown greatly in the last few years. Only 10 years ago, the average attendance at either the Republican or Democratic convention averaged around 25 voters. With this few attending, one large family could attend and control the convention. IT IS hoped and urged, this year, that every eligible voter attend one of the conventions, nominate the men the whole City want then with the same spirit, have a record turnout at the general election on November 7 and elect a Mayor and City Counciimen that have been put in and are supported by majority rule. Local report City chairmen that the Democratic Convention will be held at the Tooele County Court House, starting at 8 p.m. and the Republican Convention at the Tooele City Hall, also starting at 8 p.m. next Wednesday, October 11th. Both chairmen report that if the crowd exceeds the available space, arrangements have been made to move the conventions to larger quarters.
