Childbirth is the largest single factor in the hospitalization of women, the Health Insurance InstiIf by Vera Hammond y tute reported today, citing a December 1958 study by the U S, Dept, of Health, Education and the average Welfare. However, hospital length of stay for women is lowered by maternity. The typical maternity case was hospitalized 4 5 days as compared to the over-al- l figure of 7.2 days for all females and 8 5 days for reasons other than maternity. They all tend to take the drivers mind off driving, to make him more susceptible to an accident." Porter agrees that the wife who gently suggests her husband lift his heavy foot from the accelerator and who helps him watch out for road hazards can be a real benefit.
