The jinx is based on the fact that since Clarke Johnsen became head coach of Tooele, he has clashed with Art Hughes six times and six times Tooele ended up on the short end of the score. The worst defeat in this long famine came about in 1956, when Tooele lost by 27 points, The closest the Buffs have come to defeating Jordan, was the same year, when they fell short by four points In racking Tooele six straight times, Jordan has scored 322 points to Tooeles 225 a game ave rage of 53 6 for Jordan, to Tood ele's 37.5, which is a spread in the Beetdiggers favor. Rumor has it that Jordan is just "one of the boys, this year, and that its usually powerful cage squad is not as potent as in years gone by. 'Course, that remains to be seen. Art Hughes is a crafty coach, and the basketball tradition at Jordan is a powerful weapon. They won the league, last year, hnd it is an old axoin in sports to Stick with the champ, at least fil someone proves to be better. J Certainly, Tooele's record isnt impressive enough to come out and flatly predict that the Buffs are capable of dumping Jordan. Still, you cant overlook the fact that Tooeles win was a over South, and any big team that can defeat South can not be brushed aside, regardless of their won and lost record. Tooele is expected to have seniors Brent Curry and Bill Kovace-vicand three juniors, Barry Thomas, Dan Gillespie, and Jim Jensen on the firing line, when the whistle blows. This is the quintet that carved out the win over South, and Coach Johnsen will probably stick with a winning combination. Backing up the starting five will no doubt be Marv Lee and Billy Leonelli, as front line reserves. A win here for the Buffs would prepare to lead the White Buffaloes into Region fourt court wars, and a possible trip to the State Tourney. HOME FROM CALIFORNIA be great, not only for Tooele, but for the entire league. It would give the other quints throughout the Region a pattern to follow. However, we figure the jinx, Jor-- j dan, and the home court will be more than Tooele can handle. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Bryan and children, Lynn, Bud, and Jan, spent two weeks visiting in Ca!i- forma. Secret of the beautiful coating is a quick dip in evaporated milk and egg. Make your sandwiches as usual with ham and cheese or luncheon meat. Then dip the whole sandwich in the milk and egg mixture. One-thircup milk and one egg makes enough dip for two or three grilled sandwiches, and the dip can be increased accordingly for the number of sandwiches to be made. Evaporated milk is double rich in milk nutrients. It not only steps up the food value of the sandwiches but gives them their golden crust when hot off the grill. Serve the sandwiches with broiled tomatoes and a perky green salad. Golden Dip iches 1 can (12 ounces) luncheon cup evaporated milk 2 eggs meat or chopped ham 1 tablespoon prepared mustard 12 slices bread 6 slices processed American 1 teaspoon poppy seeds. Cheese optional Cut luncheon meat into 6 slices. Place one slice on each of 6 bread slices; top with cheese and remaining bread slices.
