FINISH J5he ZMEW EDISON ItUttlittUUKHHUUUtttt&ZUHUKliKKttti The report published in the Salt Lake papers that the County Comissioners of Tooele County would give $25,000 towards the graveling of the Wendover Route brought forth a storm of protests at the meeting of the Commissioners Monday. Protests from the citizens of Lake Point and Erda were much in evidence, while others came in from the south end of the county. In justic to the Commissioners it should be stated that they say they made the statement of the appropriation with the understanding that the State Road Commission would build the Lincoln Highway through the county, but as the construction of that highway seems to be in abeyance at the present time, the Board has given it out that no appropriation for the Wendover Route will be made. The delegation from Lake Point told the Commissioners that the people there disapproved building two highways across the desert especially with the countys money. They had no objection to the State building the road. The opinion seemed to prevail that the Wendover Route at present consists only of mud cake on the surface to form a bed on which they propose to put the gravel ; and that when heavy travel, like the Convoy which passed over ihe Lincoln Highway were to go over it, the road would sink out truck were to try to of sight. Those in a position to know say that the mud thrown up along the route has merely caked and when a heavy truck passes over it the cake will break and the truck sink down in the mud, no one knows how far. To meet with such an experience would be a hundred fold worse than getting lost on the desert. on 10-to- RETAIL PRICE LIST ON Tooele cDrag Co.
