Show Boy Drowned Near Moab Death of ot a Moab youngster Inthe Inthe in inthe the Colorado river touched off offa a search last Saturday evening that lasted throughout the night and until the body was discovered Sunday The body of Bruce Druce McElhaney 10 was discovered one and one one- half miles down the river from the spot the boy was last seen by two members of the Colorado River Skippers club who had come from Grand Junction with water under-water breathing apparatus to aid In the search Sheriff John Stocks reported that the youngster and a friend Leon Turner also 10 were playIng playing playing play- play Ing in the river near the mouth of Mill creek when they tried to push a log off a sand bar Both Doth boys slipped into deep water Leon swam to shore but Bruce Druce who could not swim went down at once Leon told the sheriff he saw Bruce's Druces knee disappear and then didn't see him again Grownups nearby who heard the cries of the boy notified Moab police pollee and a search for forr the body was touched off that included the sheriffs sheriff's department fire department department department depart depart- ment Civil Air Patrol and the Skippers club of Moab and Grand Junction who furnished boats to aid in the search Bruce McElhaney was the son of Mr and Mrs Vernon D D.
