Show PIONEER CITIZEN PASSES AWAY AT NUCLA the older residents of moab and southeastern utah will regret to learn that george C games a pioneer resident of the paradox section of colorado and well known in this part of the country died two weeks ago at eucla nucla colo he vas the father of mrs helen formerly of la sal and moab the eucla nucla independent of last week published the following account of his life george C grimes pioneer resident of this county retired to his bed sunday evening and some time during the night passed quietly and peace cully into that long sleep which knows no awakening on this earth E C brooks his old comrade com Tade found his body in bed monday morning lat 11 relatives were notified at once and the body was prepared for burial by request of the deceased the eucla nucla lumber power company supplied the casket funeral services were conduct this morning from the homie of the deceased on main street and in fur ther compliance with mr gomess request mrs M I 1 age president of the society here con ducted the service deceased was a of that society burial was in the eucla nucla cemetery by the side of his wife who preceded him to the great beyond some eight years ago george C grimes was born at kankakee illinois 11 1848 and would have been 78 old had he lived until december 11 next november 10 1869 he was united in marriage to sarah J bell of kan bakee to this union was bom eight children seven of whom are surviving they are eugene of houck anz helen of montrose bertha of eucla nucla howard of oscar of tennant calif earl of brush colo edna lavendar of alamona alamosa colo one sister and two brothers also survive deceased his family to california many years ago and later to denver and some 34 years ago to paradox since that time he resided in this section and up to a few weeks ago lived with his daughter bertha being his wish to be in town he recently moved to the quarters in eucla nucla though the family protested against this it was his wish was fulfilled deceased vas a union soldier of the civil war but records of his service are not available at this time his death leaves but two old soldiers on they Parks E C brooks and wm maitland mr grimes had ben in poor health for several years and his death did not come as a shock to intimate friends and relatives he was up and about sunday so wa hours of suffering if any were fw tre sorrowing relatives have of all these of the children attending the funeral were helen bertha edna and howard the other children could not come |
