Show r - , j , . x - fT ' . -'-'.'-",': - I ' " ?zi I Mr. & Mrs. James Lewis Couple married under spectacular Rainbow Bridge Rainbow Bridge on Lake Powell in San Juan County was the setting Saturday for the wedding of Rita Ann Ekker and James Lewis. This National Nation-al Monument located down river 50 miles from Bull Frog Basin, reaches a height of 309 feet and spans a gorge of 278 feet. The Park Service granted the couple permission for this occasion and the event took place at 2 p.m. with Justice of the Peace John Johnson, of Hanksville, Hanks-ville, officiating. The wedding wed-ding party of 50 took the Scenic Queen tour boat from Bullfrog early that morning and were escorted escort-ed by several smaller boats with wedding guests and well wishers. Rita Ann, daughter of Jess and Barbara Ekker of Hanksville, has been an employee of Del E. Webb, at the Marina at Hite for the past two years. She exchanged vows in a double ring ceremony with James Lewis, manager mana-ger of Tiffany's Attic in Salt Lake and son of Dave and Virginia Lewis of Salt Lake. Sybil Ekker, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor and Dave Lewis, brother of the groom was best man. Jason and Cameron Ekker, four and three year old brothers of the bride, were ring bearers. The couple chose this natural setting to recite their vows as both have called the area home for sometime as James was employed at Bullfrog earl-John's earl-John's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dee Jackson, his sister and her husband Mr. and Mrs. George Peterson Siguard, Bishop t and Mrs. Kay Erickson, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ekker, Mrs. Marilyn Seller Sel-ler (aunt), Mr. and Mrs. Danny Albrecht, Mr. and Mrs. Malan Jackson, Mr. and Mrs. David Jackson, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Wells. Jolene Harding of Provo is visiting her sister, Mrs. Carl (Jan) Hunt and family for several weeks. The Interior Department Depart-ment says runoff of the Colorado River system above Lake Powell should be about 140 percent above normal and that Lake Powell will rise to j within nine feet of its all time high. Rita's grandfather, Virgil Baldwin Bald-win made a 'first' on the Colorado River early in 1925 when he and his brothers built the first paddle wheel boat, The City of Moab, which traversed the river for several years. Her greatgrandfather, great-grandfather, Charles Gibbons, Gib-bons, pioneered in the area and captured the wild stallion, "Wildfire" that was later made into a novel by Zane Grey.
