Show grand county people will regret to leam that mrs florence puller well known cattle woman 0 westwater died at grand junction last thursday following a brief illness with pneumonia mrs fuller was one of the leading growers of cattle in eastern utah and western colorado and had a wide circle of friends throughout the intermountain region she was a sister of G A harris of elgin former commissioner of grand county funeral services were held sunday at the catholic church at grand junction and burial took place in that city the following from the grand junction sentinel gives the particulars of mrs fullers death and a brief history of her life mrs florence fuller well known cattle owner of western colorado and eastern utah passed away this mom ing at 6 after an illness of less than a week of pneumonia she had spent this winter in town living at the virginia rooming house on third street and colorado avenue last week mrs fuller received a telegram from green river utah stating that her mother was ill and she went to that city developing pneumonia there immediately upon her return here last thursday evening she was confined to her bed and she gradually failed until death took her this morning she has been one of the best known of the cattle owners during her more than forty years of residence here the past thirty of which she has been a member of the firm of pace and puller the cattle company has operated in colorado and utah with at least acres of land and many thousand head of cattle each year mrs fuller had worked hard to get her property to its present status joe pace her partner in business has been in the cattle here for many years also florence lorene harris came here to make her home permanently about 1895 from utah where she bad lived from the early she was bom in tennessee and was about 60 years of age for about the past 45 years she had been in the cattle business independently surviving her are her mother mrs nancy V harris brother ink harris and a sister mrs dails all of whom reside in green river and will arrive here on no 4 thlu evening her only daughter mrs leola fuller scarlett resides on a cattle ranch near the colorado utah line and will arrive here this evening by car it Is necessary to remove the snow from the byroad leading to the ranch in order to get to the main road and the trip will be difficult mrs ink harris and her little daughter came here several days ago that the little girl might undergo tonsil operation and they will remain here mrs puller had many friends over continued on 0 continued from first page both colorado and utah who camo I 1 within the scope of her acquaintance I 1 1 and all knew of her exceptional kand I 1 ness her and her charit ability she was willing to help anyone in trouble at all times as far as her ability would permit and those whom she has helped have extended over a very useful lifetime she has been one of the most im important figures in the cattle industry cpr many years handling her business i as man and working on the iramae as a man until she had buat I 1 to the point where she i I 1 no longer had to labor each day she awaa spending her first winter in town 1 away from the range in eastern utah I 1 where she had lived through many winters the animals with which loved her and recognized 15 her authority and all who have work ed or her are grieving today at the i passing of such a worthy woman 4 no funeral arrangements have been made but it is probable that the seri vices will be held the first of next i 1 week at the catholic church and K 11 burial will be in calvary cemetery inthe remains are at the callahan i j mortuary |
