Show ID HATCH EAST UTAH PIONEER DIES lorenzo hatch sr a pioneer of eastern utah and well known throughout the state died at green river saturday night at 10 following a nine days illness of pneumonia funeral services were held monday with burial at elgin cemetery 1 sir hatch was 72 ears of age he was a resident of eastern utah for 40 years being engaged m mining and prospecting practically all of that time he was one of the i early prospectors in the la sal mountains and at one tune owned a ranch in upper moab valley mr hatch was the promoter of the placer company which for a time operated on wilson mesa and which built the moab city water system in exchange for the use of the waters of mill creek for placer operations which made it unfit for culinary use few citizens cf utah had a wider acquaintance than lorenzo hatch and a history of the settlement of the eastern part of the state would be incomplete without numerous references feren ces to his work and activities mr hatcha hatchs widow is very sick being also stricken with a severe attack of pneumonia |
