Show SAN JUAN PEOPLE ASK ROAD SOUTH TO FLAGSTAFF asking an extension of the federal aid highway no south through monticello to flagstaff ariz a delegation of officials and private citizens of san juan county met with the state highway commission yesterday representative charles redd of la sal headed the delegation and acted as spokesman we believe that the highway now running south thompsons Thomp sons through moab to monticello and turning eastward to colorado should be extended on southward to flagstaff ariz said mr redd the advantage to be gained by this Is seen when highway would go south from monticello through blanding at this point a road runs westward into the natural bridges and sooner or later this national monument will be one of the prime scenic attractions for tourists in the vest the route we propose Is south from blanding to bluff and west to mexican hat where the highway would cross the san juan river prom flagstaff or at some point north a road will be eventually built west to the bridge at lees ferry and north into the southern utah parks this would give a direct highway from the east through mesa verde national park in colorado and connect with the southern utah parks and eventually with the salt lake los angeles highway |
