MAY AN EMPLOYEE withdraw his voluntary-contributio-n account in the Federal Civil Service Retirement System? A. Yes. An employee or separated employee may withdraw his voluntary contributions and accrued interest at any time before he retires and receives additional annuity. A separated employee, or one who has transferred to a position in which he is not under the retirement system, may withdraw his voluntary contributions only and may leave his regular deductions in the retirement fund. This may be done by marking the applications (Standard Form 2802) "Refund Voluntary Contribution Account Only." Q. May an employee who has withdrawn his voluntary-contributiaccount later make new voluntary contributions? A. ONLY IF, after he has withdrawn his account, he is separated from the service for more than three calendar days and is then reemployed and again becomes a member of the Civil Service Retirement System. Q. Is it to the employee's advantage to make voluntary contributions? A. This is a question which an employee must decide for himself.
