To help the soldier meet the stepped-u- p physical demands, DA stresses the need for additional physical training. He was selected by Pershing in 1917 to be Gas Officer, AEF. He served as Chief, Chemical Warfare Service from 1920-192when he retired. Peter Area will be renamed Buchanan Place in honor of Melvin D. Buchanan who served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1924- -. 1950, when he retired. He was employed at Dugway from 1951 until his death, serving in the Security Force. Area names will be changed R as follows: Able Area will be renamed Avery Technical Center in honor of Brigadier General Ray L. Avery, United States Army. Gene rid Avery was born in 1884 and retired in 1946. He served in France in 1918 and in die army of Oc- 1957. The 5800 Series barracks will be named Bullene Barracks in honor of Major General Egbert F. Bullene, a 1917 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy who later that year transferred to the U.S. Army. He served in World War I and later in the 1st Gas Regiment. He commanded the San Jose project in 1944; later becoming Commanding General, Edgewood Arsenal and was Chief Chemical Officer from 1951 to 1954. THE OLD NCO quartern will be called Renneau Court in honor of Master Sergeant Charles H; Renneau who served during World War II and was stationed at Deseret Chemical Depot from 1951-195He served at Dugway 8 Proving Ground from when he retired. The parade field across from Post Headquarters will be named Brantley Field in honor of Second Lieutenant Robert C. Brantley. Lt. Brandley served as a Sergeant Co. D, 1st Gas Regiment in France in September 1918 and won the nations second highest award the Distinguished Service Cross, cupation. He commanded Erie Proving Ground and was Commanding Ceneral of Edgewood Arsenal born July 1939 to April 1946. BAKER ABEA will be called Baker Laboratory in honor of Major General Walter C. Baker who served as a volunteer in the War and as a regular Army officer in World War L He commanded Edgewood Arsenal and the Chemical Warfare School and was First Cups Area Chemical Officer until he became Chief, Chemical Warfare Service in 1937. He retired in 1941, but was recalled to duty and served in World War II in the War Department. Carr Facility is to become the new name for what is now Charlie Area. It will be named in honor of Captain Gordon W.
