The executives most conmon enemy is lonli-nes- s, sail Dr. Francis J. Braceland, psychiatrist - in -chief of tht Institute of Living, Hartford, Cun., the countrys - - largest private mental health organization. Festival 65 Revue Opens CSC Enlarges Placement Civil Service Commission Part of the fun of the Festival 65 show is the inclusion of an original melodrama Curses Foiled Again, tr, Why Did You Ever Have to Own a Pieceworks! " This has been a real audience pleaser in the performances'. ' The author, Harold Newey confesses that it was written in one of my weaker moments. However, he said my accast of ham's er tors have added so many adlibs that they should be charged with mal treatment of an important piece of literature!" I get the distinct impression that we have a different ending each time it is perform ed." The plot, a typical melodrama plot, concerns the Pu reheart family who own a pickle-work- s, which the villan, Snid-le- y fowl Whiplash, through means, obtains. In the end, in an exciting climax, good conquers evil, or at least should. Anyway the audience can have a lot of fon booing the villian, weeping for the heroine and cheering the hero on to his conquest of evil, or something! The Melodrama is only part of the two hour revue which, besides the fon, has sections of great beauty and melody. Its a show you shouldnt miss. Good seats are still available for all performances. Tickets are on sale at Parkers Music or prior to showtime at the door. All seats are reserved and they are $1. has the Separated Cabroadened reer Employee program to make the placement service more responsive to present conditions of employment in the Federal service. Major change in the new program is to make employees eligible for agency and Government - wide out- - placement assistance before they are separated instead of waiting until they are actually off agency rolls. Previously, the program sought to place workers only after they were separated from the Federal service. The program has been renamed the Displaced Employee program to reflect its broadened objec tives and its aim to provide a more uniform placement service for all displaced career or career conditional employees. Placement assistance to be provided by SCS supplements agency placement programs. Each agency will operate a positive program for the placement of its surplus employees which will assure them of priority in consideration for vacancies and for jobs held by tempo or indefinite employees. rary CSC has urged agencies to develop placement programs that will assure affected employees the broadest possible consideration for placement in other jobs within their own agency. ... -- .. ... Credit unions are an unusual and different type of organization. ' Union Federal Credit 4 DugwayPhone: 2053 1 I The Cauldron By PFC Eric Breitbart After a rather long and somewhat unexpected vacation, return to these pages with what we hope is renewed vim without which there is nothing. Assuming our and vigor ' stance in front of the mirror of customary, the world microcosm that is Dugway, we find, expectedly, that our primary function, to give the news and views of Test . Support Company, is no longer fulfillable, since the source of the aforementioned news and views, Test Support Company, no longer exists. WHAT TO DO? Pull down the shades, put the Out to Lunch sign in the window and close up shop. No. Never re- , treat. The patience, loyalty, and unswerving devotion of our many fans and readers (at least one or two of them) convinced us to remain and bring joy and bewilderment into the troubled hearts of our public. We had thought of changing the columns name to something like Eric and His Friends, but this would be unfair, to say nothing of uncouth. So we shall leave sleeping dogs lie, as they say, and crouch a little deeper into our habitual rut. Aa the summer progresses and the long days shorten (as all things must), we have noticed, with no small amazement, an Increasing number of individuals returning without taking their foil quota of leave. From this, one can only surmise that being ejected like a spent shotgun shell from the warm home that is Dugway into the cool cold world is too much for their delicate constitutions to bear and they cannot wait to rush back and cower under the blankets. A regressive attachment to the fantasy of the past, one might say. Perhaps they just like it here. After all, this is Dugway country, where the flavor ia. We know how they feel and sympathize, as best we can, with our limited sensibilities. While carrying Dugways somewhat battered colors into Sixth Army tennis competition (along ,with Lieutenants Mitchell and Strong and the omnipresent Fred Wetzel) we, who have always believed the city to be a manifestation of the Apollonian consciousness, had the oc- casion to visit the cultural metropolis of the West (Golden) and witness the destruction of form and intellect (first hand, . mind you) under the endlesa swarms of topless bathing suit swim emporiums and the throbbing pulse of the frug (gurf spelled backwards), jerk, monkey, swim, and that new dance sensation, the cow (Cmon everybody let's MMOOOOO. . v' all forms of negative vitality, to borrow Spengler's term. ' C MANY TEMPTATIONS exist for the weak and unwary (our will of tempered steel was put to great stress), and the results of yielding are all too obvious from many points in the city. They call it Alcatraz, and baby jane, that water is cold. Still, that idea for a Dugway a Go Go (remember?) was not so bad. We could start a whole new series of dances to sweep (pun!) the nation: the Mop, the Buffbuff, the Trash (yeah! 1. yeah!) and the Sweep (C'mcn everybody now SWEEEPPP) and really show those hicks in New York and Paris whereto get off. By the way, mustache and goatee is very IN at Dugway this summer. So IN, in fact, that it is almost shoe (an archaic, almost obsolete, Eastern word.) By the judicious use of wonder drugs and a little old fashioned witchcraft, a disease peculiar to Dugway (peculiar to Dugway? mmmm. . . strange. . .), feuermania, has ceased to be a menace, perhaps forever. Named for its originator and M. Feuereman, who, unlike Typhoid Mary first carrier, was particularly rife with symptoms, feuremania encourages ' sloth and decadence but, unlike its close relative, beatlemania, feuermania spawns no fan clubs, leaves no teenage girls breathless in its wake, and will never affect the national economy. Its effects, however, are just as devest a ting' and no less permanent. We are well to have done wiih tt. For those who complain of nothing to do in the early evening, may we suggest, if time and tide permit, taking in a softball game. We had occasion io go the other evening and the spirit, the fervor of it all (right in the middle of the ' : desert too), well, it was almost too much, like watching a psychodrama or a Happening, or a war movie without the girls. Things werent that good when we were young. Then again, being a child of the city, we had to use manhole covers for bases. round the barracks, as we are all THE BIG CHANGE well aware, has been the merging of Headquarters and Test Sup. . . (whoops, we almost said that dirty word again) . . . well, that OTHER company. We hear, foi' example, that the subscriptions to Rudder and Diplomat, two of our more and1 "National Repopular dayroom rags, will be doubled, view" and Film Culture", added to the racks to broaden our intellectual horizons. We have come together, two branches of a -- mighty river, flowing 'onward to the sea with redoubled energies. Although the action of operation little switch might be thought to arise from such mundane considerations as man hours, efficiency reports, order, and companionship, we, used to probing deeply into man's actions, know better.
