Gunn McKay retained his U.S. House of Representatives position, winning 78,668 to Republican Joe H. Jimmy Carter barely edged President Gerald Ford to win the presidential election Tuesday night. With nearly all returns in morning, the Wednesday Carter-Mondademocratic ticket was pronounced winner. In state races Democratic candidate Scott M. Matheson easily won the governor seat over Vernon Romney, with an 188,119 to 162,779 lead at press time. Newcomer Republican Orrin Hatch scored an upset over Senator Frank Moss, with Hatch taking the Utah Senate Seat in le Ferguson 55,176. The' bicycle license law requires every bicycle in Roy City to have a license. The fee for purchase of the license is j$l. This will include the license tag, a registration card and v Swine flu clinic held ROY Residents are reminded that this Friday and Saturday swine flu innoculations will be given at Roy Junior High. Shots will be given free of charge at the clinic Nov. 5 from 8 p.m. and Nov. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Persons 18 years of age and older are encouraged to attend. There are two kinds of vaccine: the bivalent for those 65 and over and those in high risk categories, and the monovalent, for those High risk patients include those with chronic disease and heart trouble, lung or kidney disorders and diabetes. High risk children should see a private physician, otherwise children under 18 will not require the vaccine. School receives 'History of Hooper1 from student Most young people celebrate their birthdays opening a gift from their family. Instead, on her birthday, Luwen Belnap gave a gift from her grandfather to the Roy Junior High Media Center. The book History of Hooper, Utah; Land of Beautiful Sunsets was written by John Belnap who spent a period of years writing his reminisces and collecting pic- tures. He published the book in July 1976. He died recently at the age of 93. This book will be added to the special collections for use in Utah history and for browsing. Police urgently need school crossing guard The Roy City Police Department needs someone to work as a crossing guard. The position is now open, and needs to be filled immediately, say police. The job includes helping children cross streets before and after school and during lunch periods. It pays $2,775 per hour. Anyone interested is urged to call the Police Department at 1 as soon as possible. 825-168- if the bicycle doesnt have a serial number, one will be issued and stamped on the bike. This license is good for the life of the bike. If the bike is sold, the license must be removed and a new one issued to the owner. The new license can be obtained from the Roy Police Department. We will be at all the elementary school on the date indicated below to issue the new licenses. You must bring the bicycle with you when you purchase the license. Scott Matheson Gunn McKay Elks schedule annual bazaar Roy Ladies of Elks will have their annual Holiday Fair Bazaar at the lodge, 1875 W. 5200 S. in Roy on Sunday, Nov. 7 from 4 to 6 p.m. The dining room will be open serving chicken ala king, salad and desserts, adults $2, children under 12, $1.50. Lovely Christmas items will be sold, quilts, pillow slips, dish towels, candles, slippers, jewelry and many more handmade items. Homemade candy and bake goods will be sold. The proceeds of this bazaar will go to Charity which this year is St. Benedict Hospital. This is open to the public and everyone is invited.
