SUNSETNEWS gratitude of Th eMIA of Sunset Ward held a social last week; each class brought a part of the refreshments and afterward, the evening was spent dancing. George Elmer has just returned hbthe from a 60 day TDV service for his work. Thfe Sunset Second Ward held Welfare dinner at the Suiiset building Friday evening. Sept. 3. It was served in Hawaiian style, furnished by ward members and a $10 a family ticket. These problems and projects have to be met and this way of doing it gives sociability and creates a good feeling for all. Lets help with these worthy causes whenever our Bishopric sees it necessary and we will accomplish much and be happy about it. a Lets remember the Budget Sunday Sept. 21 at Sunday School and put tha tover the top, too. Each member is asked to pay 15c. This is the only means of raising funds to maintain a treasury for the Sunday School so that books and necessities may be had when needed. Miss Irene McQuarrie spent Peach Days in Brigham City with Neal Hunsaker. They enjoyed the peach day dance and witnessed crowning of the queen for the event, The potato harvest on the Stake Farm of North Davis Stake, was very successful; a very gratifying crowd turned Out and in about one hour the job was done. This Was very much appreciated by Bishop Hal Bailey and he expressed hia for such good coopera-tio- n the ward. The Genealogical Society had the program Sunday night, Sept. 7. It was very beautifully carried out and a gratifying audience enjoyed the evening. Elsworth Cros-sleis the new chairman of Sunset Ward and he is very capable of the wotk. The three Sunset Wards participated. y Four baby hoys and one girl were blessed and two confirmations made Sunday. The provisions of Section 7, Article XIII of this Constitution shall be construed as limitation in the rate of taxation on tangible, property for district school pul poses and not on the amount of funds available therefor, and, further no moneys allocated to the Uniform School Fund shall be considered in fixing the rates of taxation Specified in Section 7 of Article XIIl. Section 2. The Secretary of State is directed to submit this proposed amendment to the electors of the State of Utah at the next general election in the manner provided by law. H. J. : water for irrigation purposes on lands in the State of Utah, No. 7 R. By Mssrs. Hopkins, Gunther, Wangsgaard, Welch and Sheffield may be exempted from taxation to the extent that such propery is used for such purposes. These exemptions shall accrue to the benefit of the users of water so pumped under such regulations as the legislature may prescribe. The taxes of the indigent poor may be remitted or abated at such times and in such manner as may be provided by law. The legislature may provide for the exemption from taxation of homes, homesteads, and personal property, not to exceed $2,000 in value for homes and homesteads, and aft household furniture, and furnishings, equipment used exclusively by the owmer thereof at his place of abode in maintaining a home for himself wid family. Property not to exceed $3,000 in value, owned by disabled persons who served in any war in the military service of the United States or of the State of Utah and by the unmarried widows and minor orphans of such persons may be exempted as the legisH tore may provide. The legislature shall provide by Jaw for an annual tax sufficient, with other sources of revenue, to defray the estimated ordinary expenses of the state for each fiscal year. For the purpose of paying the state debt, If any there be, the legislature shall provide for levying a tax annually, sufficient to pay the annual interest and to pay the principal of such debt, within twenty years from the final passage of the law creating the debt. Section 2. The secretary of state is directed to submit this proposed amendment to the electors of the State of Utah at the next general election in the manner provided by law. Larsen and Howe A : Section 1. It is proposed to amend Article XIII, Section 2 of the Constitution of the State of Utah, to read as follows: Section 2. All tangible property in the state, not exempt under the laws of the United States, or under this constitution, shall be taxed in proportion to its Value, td be ascertained as provided by law. The property of the state, counties, cities, towns, school districts, and municipal corporation public libraries, lots with the buildings thereon used exclusively for either religious worship or charitable purposes, and places of burial not held or used for private or corporate benefit, shall be exempt from taxation. Water rights, ditches, canals, reservoirs, power plants, pumping plants, transmission lines, pipes and flumes owned and used by individuals or corporations for irrigating land within the state owned by such individuals or corporations, or the individual members thereof, shall not be separately taxed as long as they shaft be owned and used exclusively for such purposes. There shall be a State Tax Commission consisting of four members, not more than two of whom shall be long to the same political party. They went up to Henefer and followed approximately the same route as. the pioneers took when they enerted Utah, going most of the way by car but hiking approxi- mately fTve miles.
