'A SILVER LINING' With all the talk of business recessions, tight money and lay-off- s, other depressive Subjects, it may be high time that we do a little postive thinking. While it is true that in some areas it does appear that supply has caught up with demand, there are things happening in our country which require a little planning. Cottle DAD'S PHILOSOPHIES AND HIS FAMILY Dad, the wise old philosopher, looks up from his evening paper to survey his wife and family. The contended man is never poor; The discontended never rich. Anon. THIS MIGHT BE a good time for a thorough evaluation, he thought. His family includes a girl who knows what to do with a stove instead of a can opener. His lucky son will escape bicarbonate of soda because he married a homemaker, trained by her mother, to be one, instead of a debutante. Dad recalls it took 20 years to measure the effect of his wifes teaching and good example on their children. He and so many others have contributed to the educationl process that he finds it quite impossible to pinpoint another persons influence. It is very difficult to measure performance with a fair degree of accuracy. This Dad has lived by a simple philosophy; We are our brothers keepers, not superficially, but in the more radical sense that they are involved in our every choice." . . . Respect for the other person must accompany knowledge for sucess in personal, national or world endeavor. DAD APPRECIATES the opportunity given to him to cooperate with the creator in nurturing and cultivating the intellectual and spiritual growth of those entrusted to him. Therefore Dads simple philosophy includes; . . . The first step on the road to happiness on earth is gratitude. It comes naturally with obedience and performance. We are a part of them We "belong. DAD THOUGHT modesty in his young wife was a many - sided virtue. He liked the mannerism of her speech, her conduct and her dress. DAD BELIEVED true modesty would pay off in the lasting trust and enduring companionships of their weded life and reflect into tha lives of their children. and so wero his children. Dads philosopher were good Lets meet here next week! |
