Dale and Wilford met in the mission home in Salt Lake City and left for the Central States together, on March 9, 1940. Beth didn't leave the mission home until March 18. Dale and Beth became acquainted and agreed to look each other up after their release, but when Dale knocked at the Spackman door, expecting to see Beth, it was her sister Ramona who received him. Dale and Ramona fell in love. It was at their wedding reception, while in the receiving line, that Beth formally met Wilford, Their first date was on July 4th, 1942, and they were married on July 31st, after a whirlwind romance.
