For the royalty, the following have been ministration is responsible for a sequence of errors regarding a case where three teachers in the Weber district have requested a reasonable number of sick leave days for the purpose of childbirth commented Puffer. This week Supt. called an emergency meeting of principals regarding HEWs ruling in favor of the teachers and told principals to inform teachers that teachers of the district would receive 1.3 per cent less salary or a loss of $153,000 because of this situation. m Dr. Puffer stated that, The Office of Civil Rights and HEW when questioned concerning these recent actions responded that such action could be considered intimidating, threatening, and coercing. From the beginning the education association tried in every way to encourage the Weber district to take the proper action in regards to the grievances of these three women rather than place the school district in jeopardy and with the consequences they now face. Dr. Puffer commented, I have trouble understanding the superi- ntendents rationale and statistics for indicating that teachers could lose 1.3 per cent in salary. I do not feel it appropriate to assume that the district will lose $153,000 when the issue could be resolved by satisfying the three teachers grievances. Dr. Puffer concluded by saying that, the best thing the district can do to correct Troy Bullard, Greg Beyeler, Jim Bob Workman, Bert Rich, Jon Nielson, Karen Angus, Laurie Peterson, Shelly Rundquist, Kristi Glissmeyer, Eileen Thompson and Louise Bingham.
