SECOND SECTION CLEARFIELD THIS WEEK CLEARFIELD COUNCIL TO ASK CITIZENS DECISION Members of CLEARFIELD the Clearfield City Council are making plans toK;t property owners decide the fate of an improvement district to install cubr and gutter along sides of US 91 from approximately 650 No. 1150 So. installed by the State if property owners do not install cement curb and gutter. The State will replace any curb and gutter that must interfer with the building of road, the Sjate will not install where it does not presently exist. In event curb and gutter is not installed by property owners the state will provide additional black top with a V in it to carry off water but it is felt this will not serve the purpose of limiting multiple access to the Highway which the State desires for safety purposes. The city feel that cement curb and gutter similar to that which has been nistalled in majority of residential areas would do a great deal to beautify our down town area and would increase the value of the abutting property. Public Hearing be the group. The petition 57 signed by approximately citizens who either reside or have business along Highway 91. These residents are protesting the installation of curb and gutter along highway frontage. The City feels there is some as to what At the last City Council meet- misunderstanding ing a petition was studied by type of curb and gutter would The Mayor explained many property owners along US 91 are under the impression the state will install regulation curb and gutters even if an improvement district is turned down. The roll type curb and gutter that the State will lay is not similar to the rounded curbing seen in city subdivisions. It is simply a lip of road surface material which is turned p as an aid to controlling runoff water. The main objective to the type of roll curb discussed was the fact that water soon digs beheath it, undermining the pavirtg and allowing chuckholes to form. According to the council, state crews wil not repair the curbing breaks. Council members asked City Manager Glen Willardson to for proceed with arrangements ima public hearing on the provement district. How long since your CLEARFIELDBUILDING Savings Account got a raise?
