RICHARD SIMMONS, was presented with a Gold Leaf Achievement Award for work that was outstanding completed in the previous year Presenting him with his award is MRS. KENNETH DOWNS, fourth vice president of the Weber County PTA. This is the first time that the Riverdale ITA has won this award. Mr. Simmons served as president cf the PTA last year and is tdso serving this year. MEMBERS We are sorry to have Bob and Arlrne Kempstcr and girls move from our ward. They are buying them a new home in Roy and we know they will enjoy it. They moved last Saturday and they will really be missed for they were both active in the ward. We also want to welcome a new family, Mr. and Mrs. Arville Brown to our town. They are living in the former Harold Earl residence. CONGRATULATIONS to the ''Sweethearts of our ward, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Coy. They were chosen and honored at the Sweethearts Ball on Saturday evening. Mr and Mrs. Donald Byram and Mr. and Mrs. Evan Stark spent two days recently in Elko enjoying the entertainment there. LUEI.LA BYRAM was hostess to the South Weber Ladies Club Friday evening. Ten guests were present. Lunch was served and games played. Every cue had a good time. SOMETHING ELSE new is a brand new baby boy born Feb. 12 to Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Shaw He weighed 7 lbs. cz. and has one little sister, Sandra. A 4 H Elcctncty Club was organized recently with the following boys elected to office, Clark Smith as president; David as vice president; Carles Poll as secretary; Vern Peek as reporter and Lloyd Ukena as odd job dispatcher. Their teacher is Karen Smith. THE PRIMARY- - teacher train mg lesson was held at the home of Alberts Peek recently. Also the same evening a party for the outgoing president, Elaine Poll, was held. Games were played and a pot luck supper was enjoyed Elaine was also given a book for the incoming officers There were 15 officers and teachers present For the girls tc haVe a basketn ball more girls are needed. They practice each monday evening at Davis High School The Stake Sweetheart Ball will be held Feb. 28 at the South Ogden Junior High School. DONN POLL returned Monday from a trip to California where she attended a softball convention She was gone four days. Mr. and Mrs. Lester Bryan have added a new addition to their house and it really went up in a hurry. They added a utility room and a beauty salon so Norma can soon open up a beauty shop. She has the chair that Rita IBeyworth used while she was filming a picture in Southern Utah and anvone can drop in and sect it. Congratulations to your business adventure. The annual Valentine Tea was held by the Soropotomist Club Saturday at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Ogden. The purpose of the tea was to raise funds for civic and welfare purposes. Those from Roy who atended were Mrs. Josephine Taylor, Mrs. V. C. Swanson, Mrs Emma Russell, Mrs Mvrtle Russell, Mrs. W. They played games had refreshments and enjoyed the evening together Scott Kapp was very happy on his sixth birthday when he greeted cousins, friends and neighbors at his house for an afternoon of games and fun. They all had a good time and are looking forward to the next birthday part. DONNA POLL was released with a vote of thanks for her services offered as activitv counselor m the MIA. To take her place the presidency h:w chosen Miriam Brimhall to be activity counselor. Mariam was also released as a Sunday School teacher. We want to welcome Willie' Smith home from the service. He arrived home on Feb. 7 and has bten staving at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Poll Tuesday Willie and Erina moved into the basement house of Mr. and Mrs. Evan Ray.
