Monday Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. ward faculty meeting will be held in the chapel. The stake Primary Assn, is sponsoring a skill show for all the Guide boys in North Davis Stake. It wlil be held Aug. 28th. It will be lots of fun for all the boys who attend. If you have a boy in the Guide class see that he doesnt miss it Primary Stake Preparation meeting has been changed. It will now be held the third Thursday in each month. The next meeting is Aug. 21st. The Primary birthday service formerly held in August will be held this year on Sept. 7. Please see that your children attend Primary as it is necessary that they practice for the special event which is planned this year to be cf special interest to the parents. The work of filling their quota of 15,000 cans of corn for this year's welfare assignment was begun last Monday by the Riverdale and 49th Wards combined. The majority if not all the corn required is being raised on the Riverdale Ward farm. Thursday of this week was also set as a work day. Mr. and Mrs. Don Loper and sons, Don David and Glen, had a successful fishing trip to the high Umtahs three days last week. Rdnald C. Manning and his wife and two daughters are due here this week for a visit with bis parents, James and Hazel Carlsen Manning. He has been stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he attained the rank of SP 2 in the Niki missile department. Mrs. Stella Hamblen and son Ronald and the three grandchildren, Janet, Mike and Cindy Garfield, spent three days last week enjoying the sights going to, inside and coming from Yellowstone Park. Visitors at the Chauncey Burton home this week were Mrs. Bur tens neice and family the Carl Millers from Boise. On Monday they took their family to the Salt Lake Temple. Vernon and Melba Probst returned Saturday from a leisurely trip to Cheyenne and Denver. Most unusual of their experiences was a trip through the Rocky Mountain National Park which is located at the extremely high elevation of the Continental Divide and afforded a breathtaking view of the Denver area. A badly sprained left wrist was suffered by Mrs. Martha Atkinson last week when she tripped over the suitcases of her grandson who had just arrived for a visit. Lt. Vernon Gary Atkinson and his wife took her to Dee Hospital where it was at first thought it may be broken. The young airman is attached to McCord Field in Washington. While Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Brad-fielwere away visiting her two sisters at Long Beach, California, his two sisters Velma and Beth Bradfield, cafe from Logan to take care of things here at home for them. A rummage sale is being planned by the 49th Ward Relief Society, probably on the first Saturday cf September. Details will be announced later. A son was born to Harold and Marilyn Stimpson on Aug. 7 at Dee Hospital. Evelyn Applonie will again this year teach at Bngham Young University as she has done the past two y?ars. In connection with her work in the home economics department she places student teachers in the various schools. Mrs. Jeanette Wood was released as secretary in the Primary on Tuesday. Mrs. Florence Child was sustained as new secretary. Mr and Mrs. James Mitchell and family spent their vacation in the Uintah mountains. Miss Janette Ross, David Carnahan and Dale Child returned home on Monday from a months tour of the east with the Davis High Seminary. They attended the pageant, Washington, D.C., Independence, Mo., and all points of interest of our church. They had a lovely time and reported to the ward on the highlights of their trip in sacrament meeting on Sunday evening. A testimonial will be held in the Clinton chapel on Sunday Aug. 31 in honor cf Vance Parker, son of mm,- VTi. left and Allan Christensen, are the first youths in Lake View Stake to receive the coveted Knight Award through Jr. M Men activities. MAX LEWIS, KNIGHT AWARDS GIVEN JR. M MEN IN HOOPER WARD SERVICES Alan R. Christensen, son of Mrs. and Max R. Lewis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis G. Widdison, who are . cousins, in the Hooper First Ward have recently been awarded the Junior M Men Knight award. Ray Child, Lake View Stake Jr. M Men supervisor, presented the award to them in sacrament meeting and stated that this is the highest award in the Jr. M Men program and that they are the first two in our stake to receive it. The following requirements were filled by them to get this award: Speak publicly, write an essay on what the Junior M Men program means to me, be active in the church, participate in church athletics, serve as a leader, live the basic principals of the gospel, be a good neighbor, honor your family, be a good citizen, learn a new skill, memorize and say the articles Jennie Christensen of priesthood nyeeting in the past seven years. Presently he is serving as a missionary in the minority group of the regional mission.
