Show 12, 1W8 The ROY NEWS EX By Arlene Hamblin The Busy. Bees held their first meeting recently. The officers are, President, Clarissa Carplo; vice president, Dale Ella Dixon; secretary-treasure- r, Janice John; reporter, Mary Smith; song leader, Fae Patterson, entert alnment chairman Carol Johnson. Meetings are held Tuesday and Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Leaders are, Carol Smith and Earl Johnson. Mrs. Lettie Stoker accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Stoker to Alabama where Mr. Stoker has been sent on a work project for the LDS Church. Mr. Stoker has supervised the building of Churches in Las Vegas and Reno, also Mrs. Lettie Stoker will spend several weeks vacationing there before re turning to Roy. 4-- -- Marvin Venable and family will have as their house guest Mrs. Lee Foswick who will be here to visit and attend the June Conference. . Mrs. Ann Waddoups became the bride of Vernon Phillips of Ogden in a lovely home wedding on the 24th of April. Following the ceremony a wedding supper was attended by members of both families. The newlyweds left on May 2nd for a honeymoon which included Los Angeles, California, and Las Vegas and other points of interest. We wish them many years of happiness. A fashion show was presented to the ladies and teenage girls of the Roy 1st ward Relief Society Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. The show was under the direction of Mrs. Thresa West, Utah representative of the Advance Pattern Company-Manof the latest fashions were shown with emphasis on simplicity and economy. Modeling for the Mr. and Mrs. show were: Mrs. Ariel Smith, Miss Carol Smith, Miss Mary Smith, and Miss Bonnie Bambrough. Miss Betty Patterson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Patterson has been called on a mission. She will serve in Hong Kong, China in the Southern Far Eastern Mission. A farewell testimonial will be held Thursday, June 19th at 8:00 p.m. in the Roy First Ward Chapel.. All friends and ward members are urged to attend. at the Sacrament During meeting 6:45 p.m. on June 15th the Bishopric of the Roy 1st. Ward will be reorganized. All members of the ward are urged to be in attendance. Congratulations to U. and Lewis who celebrated their 3rd Wedding anniversary last ' Tuesday. From all the sounds the local fishermen did quite well on the opening day of fishing season. ' Happy Birthday to Susan Smith and Kevin Forbes who both recently celebrated birthdays. Mr. E. Reid Van Wagoner who recently injured his hand and was hospitalized will again enter the hospital this week. He will undergo a second operation on his hand. We wish him a speedy recovery. Things are really taking shape at the Roy Municipal School with the further planting of shrubs. Mr. Littlefield and several of the older boys were up to their ears in landscaping Tuesday. The shrubs were purchased with funds from members of the various classes. Each classes name will be placed on a plaque by the shrub. Funds were matched by the PTA. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gibley motored to Riverton, Wyoming to visit Mr. and Mrs. Clifford John and family and returned by way of Jackson Hole, racking up 2,000 miles in four days. Mr. and Mrs- Gibley also motored to Tremonton Wednesday and Thursday to attend the birthday celebration of their other twin daughter, Vera Jolen. John W. Mitchell, 2870 West 5725 South of Roy, recently graduated from the University of Arizona with Master of Science degree. The class was the largest in the history of the University when at their 63rd annual Commencement Exercises when 1334 degrees, were awarded. Two Roy men received bachelor's degrees in the 89th annual commencement rites this week at the University of Utah.
