Show The News Hooper MARIK W. HAWS By The Hooper Second Ward reunion held last Saturday, was a big success. Probably the largest crowd in the history of the ward was in attendance. The dinner was delicious, and was well served. And a good program was enjoyed by all. Stick McCracken, formerly of Hooper and now living in Roy, added a bit of spice to he days activities by appearing on the scene with a large bag of strange articles to be returned to his Hooper friends. The whole day was very pleasant, and it was nice to see former members of the ward who have been away for a while. .The First Ward will hold their Reunion on Friday, Feb. 22. Many of us can remember when 'Feb. 22 ranked next to Christmas and the 4th of July as a big day in our lives. Everyone in the town would meet fairly early in the day at the old church. There we would sit and be entertained for the rest of the day. At dinner time a sack lunch would be passed to everyone. (Sandwiches never tasted so good New hit with millions! for do:ens treats of fast cheese as at the ward reunion). Then in the evening all the big folks would return to the old hall for dancing. Ward reunions, like most everything else, have gone through a change. I for one, have very vivid and pleasant memories of those "good old days." Last Sunday, Feb. 7 marked the 10th anniversary of the division of the old Hooper Ward. The following article appeared in the Sunday Ogden Standard Examiner under the title, "Ten Years Ago: A new LDS Ward was organized in Hooper, the dividing line being 40 rods north of the Hooper Ward on the south of the line and the Hooper First Ward on the north. Verg C. Jensen is bishop of the Hooper Ward and Floyd I). Fowers is bishop of the First Ward." Soon after the division, as we all no doubt remember, the names were changed to the First Ward and the Second Ward Pvt. Earl Garner, son of Mrs. Sylvia Garner, has completed his basic training at Camp Carson, Colorado, lie is now attending an electronics school at Ft. McArthur, Calif. While at Camp Carson, Earl had the honor of being top man in his outfit in sharp shooting. Pvt. JiJmmy Parker has graduated from a 15 week course at a military camp in Baltimore, Md. He is now attached to Headquarters Division at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. (Note to readers I think most of us are interested in the whereabouts of our boys in the service. 1 will appreciate any news you can give me about them, or anything else, for that matter). Recently visiting friends and relatives in Hooper from their home in Tabor, Alberta. Canada, were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Terry. Mr and Mrs. Terry arc former csidents of Hooper, having left here many years ago. Ted and Grace Parker spent last Sunday in Burley, Idaho, visiting Graces aunt, Mrs. Thomas B Hull at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Manning. Mrs Hull is 87 years of age. Since 1953, 1085 different government forms have been eliminated. The red ball is still growing too; soon 8,000 forms will be replaced by 119 existing forms and 55 new forms. One form that has been almost completely eliminated wasj printed in quantities of about 500, 000,000 annually. Besides the migrane headaches some of this red tape will cure, the cost of printing alone is an item in itujor proportions. n A en.
