Somehow you Just dont get the spirt until after Thanksgiving-th- en suddenly you remember Christmas Is just one month away. One of the happiest ways of preparing for the Yule season that I have heard of is the way Emma Laurie Russell and her sister-in-la'ler get together and make their , ristmas cakes. Each year right alter Thanksgiving they put on their aprons and roll up their sleeves and get right to work. Their husbands, Leonard and Wiley are in on it too. Their Job is to cut up all the candied fruits and lend a helping hand otherwise wherever it is needed. After years of experimenting with a basic recipe, adding too and leaving out this that, they have finally developed a recipe which has become traditional with them. We feel very fortunate indeed to have the privilege of passing on to you this wonderful delicious Christmas Fruit Cake. This recipe makes four good sized cakes which are baked In loaf pans. The pans are greased well ant lined Son-Chronic- le, Roy, Utah, November 24, 1S5S Pag Three and stand neatly in a row waiting North Davis Stake House in Clear- for the cake mixture to be poured field on Thursday Nov. 24, It wai a rather stormy night and lha roads in. were quite slick so there wasn't as Emmas and Lauries Favorite large an attendance as there might Christmas Cake Recipe 'chopped candied lemon peel Va lb. candied orange peel 1 lbv candied cherries 1 lb. whole walnuts 1 lb. whole shelled pecans 1 lb. chopped pitted dates 1 lb. candied pinesppe M lb.
