The doors opened at 9 a.m. with many people in attendance looking for items they might like to bid on. Professional auctioneer Brad Silcox from Payson donated his time to help make the Rio Theatre bid off a success. The outpouring of donations and the subsequent purchases at Hie Saturday auction netted the theatre fund $14,911. Almost everything but the kitchen sink was sold during the six hour auction that ran from 11 a.m. until almost 5 p.m. The most expensive item sold for over $1100 while some sold for a dollar. While the committee had requested only antiques and collectables, many other items showed up too, adding to the take at the back table. Silcoxs professional auctioneering crew came With him. Their antics and presentation of sale items along with Silcox's down home style made the day not only a profitable one for the theatre fund but also an entertaining one for the many in attendance.
