National Newspaper Association is sponsoring 1990 NNA Quill and Scroll Journalism Sweepstakes Awards. Newspapers are encouraged to alert local high schools of NNAs support of the National WritingPhoto Contest, and urge students to apply. NNA supports the 1990 contest to encourage interest in the community newspaper industry. The 1990 contest features ten categories for high school jounalists, including editorial, photography, feature and advertisement divisions. The contest closes Feb. 5. Entries must have been published in a high school or professional newspaper between Feb. 1, 1989 and Feb. 3, 1990, and must be the work of a currently enrolled high school student. Winners will be announced in the AprilMay issue of Quill & Scroll. The best entry in each category is designated a sweepstakes winner. High school advisers or students may call the Sun Advocate for a copy of school registration form and entry rules. NNA, headquartered in Washington, D.C., represents the interests of approximately 5,000 weekly and daily newspapers.
