Helper JH student wins spelling bee ByARVA SMITH Staff writer Knsty Hatch, seventh grader from Helper Junior High School, Fnday afternoon spelled her way into first place in the annual spelling bee sponsored by Carbon County School District and the Deseret News. The correct spelling of Harlequin and then humoresque proved a winning combination for Knsty, daughter of Monte and Norma Hatch. Second place honors went to Althea Perez, sixth grader at the Creekview School. She is the daughter of Anna Mae Perez. Knsty and Althea took center stage for the final round after doxology and indescribable and a long list of similar words had eliminated 25 others. Contestants were fourth through eighth graders. The group of 27 who began the contest at 1 p.m. in the Mont Harmon Junior High School auditonum were the champions who had emerged as winners at each grade level in their respective schools.
