The CCEA proposal calls for a starting salary in the first lane, $5,957 in the second, $6,424 in the third and $6,541 in the fourth. These salary demands are tantamount to an $800 increase in the first lane, $797 in the second, $880 in the third and $881 in the fourth. The maximum demanded by the teachers is $9,344, $9,461, $9,928 and in the four lanes which would mean increases of $1,280, $1,297, $1,360 and $1,359, respectively. In addition, the CCEA is demanding the addition of a fifth lane for teachers with doctor degrees or master plus 90 hours. This lane calls for a $6,658 start2 ing salary ranging upward to $5,840 $10,-04- 5 Helen's Handy Market $10,-16- in 12 "OPEN" steps. According to Superintendent J. Grant Kilfoyle, the increases for teachers in the tenth, eleventh and twelfth steps would place an enormous burden upon the district inasmuch as over 60 of the teaching personnel are in these three higher brackets. The only agreement reached in recent sessions was to allow coaches to continue with the football programs without being bound to any contract except that agreed upon. However, the coaches are working the programs on their own time. When this matter was placed on the agenda, the CCEA was asked why all teachers would not begin teaching while negotiations are under way.
