We will have breakfast at 7.30 am, and time will be 8 30 am. Lets have a big turnout and all get signed up in the golf shop before Thursday pm. The Utah State Junior Boys Open began Monday, August 13, at the Nibley Park Golf Course. tee-o- CLUB PRO ships still available. This is a terrific buy, as sponsorships go. This $35.00 sponsorship consists of one season ticket for both the LPGA and the Utah Open, a sponsors golf cap, sponsors ribbon for husband or wife, participation in the drawing for a $2,000 trip for two to Haw'aii, invitation to dinner, dancing and cocktail party for two, club house privileges and parking privileges. Our Chamber of Commerce w'ent to Ely, Nevada, over Saturday and Sunday. We had an eight men team participating, and from all w'e can find out, they didnt play golf too well, but they had a wonderful time. e We had another at the club this week. Rex Adams knocked in his tee shot on the No. 8 hole. He was using a five iron. The shot was witnessed by Jim Kulow, Paul Scartezina and Tony Kabonic, who was cutting the green at the time. This is the e third this season. ff We have four or five boys entered from Carbon County. We wish them good luck in their different age groups and hope they bring back the trophies. The Utah State Junior Girls tournament was held last week at the Meadowbrook Golf Course. Three girls from Carbon County entered this tournament, and all three girls brought home trophies. Reta Mae Whiting and Janice Harrison, both playing in championship flight, lost their first rounds and continued to play in the consolation bracket. Reta Mae and Janice had to play each other in the finals, and Reta Mae brought home the first place trophy for the Championship-consolatio- n flight, and Janice re ceived the runner-u- p trophy. Christine Herzog played in the Presidents Flight, and after winning her first two matches, lost in the finals and came home with the runner-u- p trophy for that flight. The Ladies PGA tournament gets underway on August 23 at the Willow Creek Country Club in Salt Lake City. There will be many of the top lady professionals of the country playing in this tournament, and it should be very interesting to watch. Incidently, there are many $3500 sponsor- hole-in-on- hole-in-on- The ladies had a flag tourna- ment last Wednesday, August 8, sponsored by Reta Whiting and for Margaret Ganser, ladies day play for the month of August. The winners W'ere Kay Leavitt and Dorothy Whiting, who both wound up with their flags in the hole on the No. 9 green. They were followed by Reta Whiting, Jean Riche, Reila Jensen and Hazel Jeanselme, whose flags were all on the No. 9 green. All girls received a golf ball for their efforts of shooting to their handicaps. On September 2nd, the ladies association is going to sponsor a junior-seniscotch foursome. This was one of the most popular events of last year, and many golfers have requested it again this year. Each team wall be made up of a senior golfer and one of the junior golfers from our course. Be sure to pick out your junior golfer right away and get signed up, because there arent enough junior golfers to go or Motor Fw THURS., FRL SAT., AUGUST DOUBLE FEATURE The Womens Utah State Amateur tournament is being held this week at the Alpine course in American Fork Three of our girls are placing in this tournament, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea - Dorothy Whiting, Kay Rukavina and Dena Pierotti. On the first day of play, Dorothy was in second place just three strokes behind the leader, Dixie Lorenat. Dorothys handicap has her playing in the championship flight, and Kays and Denas handicaps have them in the first flight. And Poor White Trash - Cartoon SUNDAY, MONDAY, AUGUST 19 and 20 DOUBLE FEATURE Never on Sunday Midnight Lace - Cartoon - will be held August 20 through August 24 from 1 to 4 :30 p.m. at the Price Junior High field. Instruction in the fundamentals of football wall be Larry Regis, Paul Dupin and Jack Kobe. Winners in the handball tournament held recently in the Price municipal gymnasium were the following: Division I Denny Leonard, first and Patrick HarPaul ris, second. Division II Snow, first, and Walter Tryon, second Division HI Terry Fry, first, and Terry Vogrenic, second. The municipal gymnasium will not be open for recreation programs for the remainder of the summer. Rules and regulations covering the archery deer season were set by the Board of Big Game Control last month and include the following: Permits for the season may be obtained beginning Monday, August 20, from department offices in Salt Lake City, or from any of the regional offices in Price, Provo, Ogden or Cedar City, by either mail or personal application. In addition permits may be obtained from fish and game license agents in Ogden, Provo, Salt Lake City, Cedar City, Price, Vernal, and Richfield, upon personal application only. Applications must include the applicants full name, address, big game license number and the $3 fee.
