Show VPSILON CHAPTER HEARS PROGRAM ON MUSIC An interesting program on the history and development of the music form was presented by Denise Mclntue for members and guests of Upsilon chapter of Beta Sigma Phi in the club room Thurs- day, December 13. After giving a short history of music and some of the forms necessary tor its development, Mrs. Melnlirc presented Iva Lou Peterson, who sang "Trees as an ex-- 1 ample of poetic music. Then, to show how harmony is developed, the group sang "Silent Night." Bessie Mahlcres sang several folk songs to illustrate this typo ol music and Deanne Brown played Chopins "Nocturne on the vio'in to show thetype of music played by the masters. Joan Pitts played he piano solo "Clair do Lune as a type ot impressionistic music and Mrs. Mclntire ended the lesson by playing Jet to illustrate movie theme music, which has come so popular. Members pledged themselves to again make fruit cakes for the patients in the Veterans Hospital. Mrs. Louis Domineo, state president of Service Star Legion of Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Ed were guests at the party.
