Show Thursday, September 15, 1955 THE Page Five SUN-AOVOCA- Civil Service Tests Dated for Service Academies U-- . v xVfr Ak Qualification examinations for young Utahans interested in appointment to United States service academies will be conducted at 17 post offices in Utah on Monday, November 14, it was announced today by Senators Arthur V. Watkins and Wallace F. Bennett. Both Utah senators use the Civil Service examination to assist them in selecting candidates for appointment to the U. S. Military, Naval and Air Force acadan-u- i b, "Want-Ad- Sun-Advoc- lr ar- j I. V t f , .r al and other entrance requirements of the respective academy. Utah, young .men interested are invited to apply for the necessary application forms at the Washington office of either Senator. The completed forms must be returned not later than October 15. Candidates must be citizens, single, and not less than 17 years of age or more, than 22 years of age by July 1, 1956. They must be able to pass an exacting physical examination. The qualifying examination consists of problems in mathematics, English, spatial relations and other subjects. Examinations in Utah will be conducted at post offices in American Fork, Beaver, Cedar City, Delta, Dugway, Logan, Manti, Mo-aOgden, Panguitch, Price, Provo, Richfield, Salt Lake City, St. George, Tooele and Vernal. Alton P. Bunderson, Boise, Idaho, district representative for the National Safety Council, made this informal recommendation last Thursday at a safety meeting at the Utah state capitol. Mr. Bunderson cited National Safety Council data showing that Utah is falling down on its prosecution of drinking and drunken drivers. "Leading states report driver intoxication convictions at the rate of 1.8 for every accident involving a drinking driver, Mr. Bunderson said. "Utah reported a rate of .9, or 50 per cent below the standard," he added.
