A total of 171 marriage licenses were issued during the year as compared to 164 in 1952. June led the months with a total of 21. Other months and the issuances were: January, 19; February, 10; March, 14; April, 10; May, 13; July, 16; August, 12; September, 19; October, 14; November, 14, and December, 9. The largest number of licenses during the past eight years was issued in 1916, the immediate post-wa- r year, with a total of 262. Next in line was 1947 followed b 194S with 22S and 226, respectively. In 1949 the issuances dropped to 17S and picked up to 202 in 1950 then dropped to 160 in 1951.
