Few of us realize the effect they have upon our homes and business, our health, education, safety and recreation. They affect every phase of our daily living and that of ur families, neighbors and associates. The following summary, pertaining to the activities of the various departments of Price city is being distributed for your information: ttbotif Taxes The tax levy for Price city for 1948 is 152 mills, or $1.55 per each assessed valuation. For example, if your property is assessed 100 ) the county at $1,000.00, Price city receives $15.50. Your tax levy by was 15 2 mills in 1947 and 10 mills in 1946, No levy was made for Price city in 1945, therefore you weie not assessed for the maintenance of the city. We feel, however, that a reasonable tax should be levied to properly maintain the various departments and keep the equipment in good condition. The service is furnished without charge in the residential district offering every possible inducement to you to keep your property clean and sanitary, thus preventing the spread of disease. The property where the garbage dump is located is sprayed at regular intervals with DDT eliminating possible fly hazard and also complying with the regulations of the state board of health. under many handicaps because of the shortage of materials and manpower and the increased cost of construction materials. Everything possible is being done to keep the tax levy as low as possible and still meet the necessary requirements of all departments. Since construction materials have been released, labor costs and materials have increased. However, every effort will be made to meet demands of the various departments. We appreciate your support and cooperation, and will welcome any suggestions you may have for the improvement of the city government. The recreation program of Price city is organized primarily for the summer months. During the past year it included baseball, tennis, and supervised play for younger children. A general supervisor and two assistants were employed and these activities were offered free to the children of Price. You may well be proud of your citys swimming pool. It is one of the most modern in the state and is operated under the efficient supervision of a water safety instructor with the assistance of three employees. The pool is a recirculating type and the water, by volume, is filtered and chlorinated every six hours. Since the pool has been in operation, approximately fifty tests have been made on the water and at no time has it been unsatisfactory. It is estimated that five hundred people enter the pool daily durmonths of June, July, and August. Each persons clothes aie the ing checked in baskets and warm showers are available to the swimmers. Two life guards are on duty during the time children are allowed in the pool. A nominal fee is charged to maintain the pool and insure proper supervision at all times.
