Show Page Six TIIE SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE LIFE OF ELKDOMS LEADER The visit here today of 900,000 membership grand exalted ruler, Lafayette A. Lewis, is an event that occurs rarely among the smaller communities of the country where Elks lodges are established and is a marked honor for the over 400 members of the Price lodge, No. 1550, which draws from the counties of Carbon and Emery. The grand exalted ruler is elected each year at the national convention and his time in office is too brief for a visit to every lodge in the country. However, each grand exalted ruler makes a point of visiting one of the lodges in each state and to each of these meetings is invited the memberships of all lodges in that state This year, Mr. Lewis is making his official visitation to the Utah lodges at Salt Lake City this evein Price ning and his stop-ovis enroute on his trip from Grand Junction where he made an official visitation last night. Mr. Lewis was born in Ana- Elk-do- er heim, California, 57 years ago. Although he maintained a law office in the city of Los Angeles all during his professional life, he lived in the city of Anaheim until a few years ago when he moved to Whittier, California, a city about half way between Anaheim and Los Angeles. He is married and has four children, three boys and one girl. Mr. Lewis is descended from families who were among the early settlers of this country. His ancestors came from Massachusetts, his fathers family by covered wagon over the plains, and his mothers family by sailing around the horn. Two of his direct ancestors served in the Revolutionary war. He graduated from the University of California, receiving the degree of Bachelor of Science. Because of the financial condition of his parents during the time of his college days he had to go through college entirely on his own resources.
