Carbon District Miners Have Largest Payday In History Over a half million dollars, the largest amount ever distributed among miners and company employees in the Carbon district, was paid out as wages and salaries for the period up to June 25. Check of the largest mines and estimated payroll of the smaller ones, indicate that each employee in the mining industry received about $150 for the two weeks work. Reasons for the immense half-mon- th payrolls are the $100 vacation pay and retroactive wage increases agreed upon in the recent strike settlement. Vacation pay is allowed men who have been employed one year from May 31. Veterans are given the vacation pay if they were employed at the mine before going into service and were again on the payroll May 31. Most mines have been working six days a week since the strike settlement. n n E Irice, Carton County, Utah, Thursday, June 27, 1946 55 OTHER A CONSOLIDATION GET HIGH OFFICES ENCAMPMENT HONORS FOUR LOCAL MEMBERS Number 26 Pledges In New Hotel Sales Campain Reaches $153,900 SECOND SESSION AT COLLEGE TO BEGIN JULY 15 Four members of the Miners post 2379, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Auxiliary, were honored with high offiThe first session of the summer ces during the school at Carbon college is rapidconcluding sesly drawing to a close and the secsions of the 13th ond term of the summer session is scheduled to begin on Monday, encampment of all posts of the July 15. state held at the According to J.
