W. Christensen, who declared the woik was bang carried on satisfactorily and that all indications pointed to n very successful year. The teachers have been working very hard and are showing a commendable spirit, the board was Informed. Because of crowded conditions an extra instructor has been employed at the Gordon Creek school. To relieve congestion at the Harding junior high, the basement of the Price Carnegie library has been rented for classroom purposes with Mrs. Carmen Lewis as teacher. According to Mr. Christensen, the addition of tenth grades at Hiawatha and Helper and ninth grades at Spring Canyon, Castle Gate and Helper has relieved the congestion at the Carbon high school slightly. Enrollment in the Price and Helper schools is larger than last year due to the fact that a large nupiber of unemployed residents of mining camps have moved to the two centers of population. An increased registration at Wellington is accounted for by the fact that most of the pupils from the abandoned Kiz school have moved to that town. Overcrowded conditions on student busses have been overcome to some extent by the installation of transportation facilities from Wattis to the high school and from Columbia and Sunnyside to the high school. The addition of grades at Helper, Spring Canyon and Castle Gate has enabled the discontinuance of one bus on that route.
