While it was decided that the two units should consolidate and work tocelegether, staging a county-wid- e bration, workers sought a concise answer from the main headquarters. Don Hacking was notified of his appointment as chairman for Price city while Frank Bonacci was said to have received the county appointment. Bonacci however, is attending the state legislature as a county repreIS sentative, and arrangements will probably be directed by Hacking. Next regular meeting of the local lodge will be Wednesday January 13. Eve-spec- i ial While one man lies on a morgue slab and his accused killer languishes m the county jail, police officials along with the county attorneys office are undertaking an investigation into circumstances the surrounding fatal stabbing of Willie Samora, Mexican section hand, here Tuesday evening. Samora died in the Price City hospital around 11 oclock Tuesday evening from wounds administered by Louis Gonzales. 33, Mexican, following a drunken brawl in the latters home. Started During Dinner Said to have been started when Samora spat a bad word during the course of the evening dinner, the fight between the two narrowed to a slashing farray and Samoras death was attributed to profusive external bleeding. He received more than 25 knife wounds and gashes about his head and neck, while Gonzales sustained minor wounds about one ear. Officers who made an initial probe, were their tracks yesterday in an effort to determine the majority of facts. County Attorney Marl D. Gibson, along with Deputy Sheriff Warren Peacock, questioned the alleged sjayer yesterday morning, after the latter had been jailed all night. A mental picture of the affair was gained from the short, broken English of the defendant, who claimed tha Samora was the aggressor. Gonzales lives in a small house behind the Carbon Hotel on East First South. He has resided here with his family for approximately two years and was employed as a section hand. Samora, unmarried, had lived here for around a year. Must Get Tags While no definite check or number of the tags already having been issued all car owners will be required to secure thei rtags before applying for their new plates. A state law requires tax clearance papers through the assessors office signifying restitution moneys with reference to taxes. Rowley said that all persons residing in camps should apply to the deputy assessor there for their tax clearance tags. The assistant officials have been authorized to handle the issuance of these slips and receive money from their issuance and if the outlying residents will comply with this request, it will relieve a congested tangle in the main office. Makes Request I would like to request all those living in the camps where there is a deputy assessor, to apply to him instead of visiting the office, Rowley In that way, we will be able said. to eliminate friction and wasted time. All the deputies are on the job at the present time and will issue the tags." It is hope to have all the tags given oue before January 15, Rowley said, although new plates are not officially required on cars until January 31. Personal property taxes also are due at the present time, Rowley added. Taxes on personal property should be paid at the assessors office. In 1936, a total of $27,220 was collected on personal assessments and it is hoped to exceed that figure in this years collections.
