Nothing has been scheduled for Friday night although practices were continued this week and will be pushed next week for the coming tussle with Castle Dale. Team Settling This years hoop addition is regarded somewhat as a dark horse." Perchance not so dark, but at least a speculative one. Local fans are still wondering how to take the squad, for with its ups and downs, no one . . . not even the players themselves . . knows the final result. Carbon will stay in the league race as the result of her most recent win over Ferron, but should she drop any more games, shell be forced into a bottom position after that who knows. Composed mostly of sophomores with a sprinkling of upperclass veterans, the team apparently is headed on the right track and should it emerge without another defeat, it will stand a good chance of gaining the state mid-seas- on ff . . . finals. Have Won Three Excluding the preparatory practice games played against San Pete county teams late last year, Carbon has participated in five hoop tussles, losing the first two and winning the last three. Coach George Young reported this week that all the lads are in good condition and apparently have settled down in a more even channel. Early in the season they were regarded as rather ecentric but after getting roughed up, have settled and are looked to with hoping eyes, to bring the proverbial "bacon" back home. 26-1- 31-- 9. 30-- 25-1- ID)AJ(SE2 AT THE SILVER MOON PRICE SATURDAY February 13 Special Valentine Effects Free Serpentine and - Novelties BY CAL & DOWNEYS ORCHESTRA 25 Carbon-Emer- y M-M- en s, ed .. The victory was the third straight for George Youngs hoopsters and enabled them to go into a tie with South Emery for second place. Central of Castle Dale virtually clinched the title, however, by taking the measure of North Emery, 25 to 13. The winners now lead the district race by two full games, and nothing short of a startling reversal of form will keep the championship from them. With Stones, guard, setting the scoring pace by chalking up 12 points, the Dinosaurs took an early lead over their southern rivals and retained the advantage throughout virtually the entire game. The Carbonites forged to a 4 lead by the end of the first quarter, ended the half on the long end of a 6 count and finished the third chukker with a 4 lead. Oveson, with six points, was the only South Emery eager able to find the hoop with any degree of success. Evans was the chief point getter for Central in the North Emery encounter, registering four field goals and successfully converting three out of four foul pitches. The Huntington squad was held to five field goals, and two baskets was the limit for any one player. The Dinosaurs will be idle this week, while South Emery travels to Castle Dale to meet Central and North Emery entertains Green River at Huntington.
