Karumal was convicted of first degree murder January 28, 1926, for the shooting of Yosaki Ishisake on March 1, 1925 near Helper. On February 5, 1926, Judge George Christensen sentenced Karumal to be shot on April 2 following, but while awaiting execution, the doomed man became mentally deranged. Now that he has been pronounced cured, Karumal has been returned tc Price for Judge Christensen to reset the date of execution. Attorneys L. A. McGee of Price and Thorit Hatch of Helper have been ap pointed by the judge to investigate the case and represent Karumi should the defendant wish to present reasons why the execution should not be carried out.
