A concert was given Monday, June 12, in the court of the Electric building. where hundreds of people warmly applauded the Carbon band. At the request of numerous people, the band gave a marching demonstration following the concert. "One of the most interesting happenings on the trip occurred when Prof. I. Gingrich, who was music director at the Carbon high 16 years ago, introduced himself to the band. He was invited by A. B. Caseman, acting director, to conduct the band, and he readily accepted. The following program was given during the concert: Semper Fidelis and Utah Trail directed by Mr. Fest OverToy; Hall of Fame, and ture, "Golden Band March, Springtime in the Rockies, directed by Mr. Caseman, and "National Emblem March, directed by Prof. Gingrich. During the concert, the band encountered a number of Utah people, including Mr. and Mrs. G. R. West of Price and Mr, and Mrs. B. H. Hyde of Helper. "It was a wonderful trip, full of thrills and pleasures, and proved to be a real benefit to the entire state by giving wide and beneficial publicity to the resources and scenic wonders of Utah. Every opportunity was taken to thoroughly advertise Utah and Carbon county. A district court jury Thursday awarded $50 to A. Pneumonia Fatal to Spring Canyon Man John Glen Barton, tipple operator employed by the Standard Coal company died Monday at the Standard-vill- e hospital of bronchial pnuemonia. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 p. m. in the Mt. Pleasant south ward chapel under the direction of Bishop A. L. Peterson. The Deseret mortuary will have charge of burial in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery. Mr. Barton was born in Mt. Pleasant on October 4, 1898, a son of John C. and Elsie Erickson Barton. He is survived by his parents and his widow, Mrs. Lenore Cupit Barton.
