Second Prepared Article Following is the second of a series of articles prepared by the educational committee of the state samtor-iuassociation The committee is composed entirely of practising physicians and is a non political organization. At the beginning of this century, tuberculosis led all diseases as the greatest single cause of death. It was truly the Captain of the Men of Death. Today it stands fifth or sixth in order of frequency as a cause of death, but it remains despite a fruitful and persistent campaign or eradication, as the greatest single cause of disability between the ages of fifteen and forty. And yet the means and meth- ods for its detection and control are well known so that we have a right to expect its complete conquest. One of the most valuable methods utilized to fight tuberculosis is the testing of milch cows, and the destruction of all cattle found to be infected. Pasteurization of milk has added further safety in this direction so that milk borne tuberculosis is almost unknown whereas formerly it was very common inm . now-a-da- situation. Another speaker who will be secured if at all available, is State Senator the deed. No one who drinks pasteurized milk or milk from certified cows need have any fear of tuberculosis from that source. But, important as destroying tuberculosis is a disease which it is nothing compared with the control of infected humans.
