Assets of Price city, the audit indicates, amount to $644,099.04, this .sum exceeding liabilities by Sinking fund investments are shown at $119,645.24, while bonds outstanding total $364,000, with interest listed at $5011.50. Book value of Price city property totals $501,687.94, and taking into consideration depreciation amounting to $175,280.96, the net book value is placed in the audit at $326,406.98. All receipts of special funds, records of which are kept by Treasurer Rulon A. Bryner, were accounted for, the report shows. Disbursements were made by check and the cash balances in the various funds were shown to be as stated. The balances were d by certification obtained directly from the bank. Relative to the hospital fund, the auditors comment: The records of the hospital are kept strictly on a cash receipt and disbursement basis, and no accruals are made either of accounts owing by patients of the hospital or of bills owing by the hospital. We are informed that this method of accounting is to be changed to the accrual method, which, in our opinion would be a decided improvement, as it will more properly reflect the actual earnings of the hospital in the future. The report further states: It will be noticed that during the past year, various bonds of the city of Price were purchased from the sinking fund, in some instances considerably below par. These purchases should ultimately result in a substantial financial saving to the city.
