This touches but lightly upon his work. I have no bitterness in my soul, he writes to friends, but I am not vanquished. I am still of fight and I am coming back, I hope, stronger than ever. Many devoted friends here will join him in this hope. - - Twenty Years Ago This Present Week Dr. and Mr. A. W. In a brief manner is described in other columns of this newspaper, the historv of Price ward Saints church and the Latter-da- y of Carbon county. The history of the county finds its beginning in the organization of this ward at Mce. The same people who made up the charter membership of this portion of the church were the ones who braved the hardships of a barren desert in the lint signs of spring to found the site of this thriving little community. In building a church, adhering to the same religious doctrine and working toward a common destination they have developed what is now one of the most progressive commonwealths in the state of Utah. The record of their achievement is appalling when one the history of the past fifty years. Victory over the overwhelming odds has been the reward. From the dust of s windswept desert has grown a city of 5000 people. .The mountain streams have been darned and water turned to thousands of acres of parched soil The surrounding mountains have ed millions of tons of coal. While material wealth has haps been the most pronounced reward there is even greater satisfaction to be gained in the spiritual development of the past half century. It is hoped that when the historian fifty years from now continues the story it will be one of the same progressive spirit. : - - per-sue- s Deputy Sheriff Pete Peterson was BY DEMOCRACY NOV. 8 Jr District Chairman J.
