Time to Pay Up When general reports indicate the backbone of the season of The significant fact about ther tabulation was that the Salt Lake returns were practically complete. This county roiled up a aeries of majoritiea against the amendments that might appear stupendous. But the voters iu other counties were not of the same mind as those of Salt Lake county, Of the. eounties reporting incomplete votes, some but scantily represented, like Summit end Waiateh, are known to he quite strongly against the amendments. But these will be more than counterbalanced by large majorities to be expeeted from other counties, Wasateh and Summit, for example, will eount a fair vote against the proposals. On the other hand, some thousands of majority votes are still to eome from Utah, Sevier and several other of the more populous counties. Analysis of the tabulations by both friends and foes of the amendments was sufficient for all to reach the unanimous conclusion that the amendments will carry. The majorities may run anywhere from 300 to 5000 upward. The peculiar thing about the count of the votes on the amendments is that, while the interest in the amendments is state-widon Wednesday it had to take second place in many regions to purely local counts, involving failure or success of certain candidates to win their way into office, qr to retain office. The result is that the returns on the amendments in county after county ere as yet incomplete, whereas the returns on various offices are so entirely satisfactory that the result ia known with certainty as to practically every offiee in the gift of the electorate on Tuesday. Of the vote as yet un reported, luge blocks in Duchesne, Hillard, Utah and Sevier eonnties will be .for the tax amendments, while Summit and Wasatch will be against and Juab probably less emphatically so. e, .
