Iluut was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter by a jury in district court over at Castle Dale last Saturday forenoon. Judge Woolley was on the bench, lie was charged with first degree murder. The change grew nut of the death on July 4th, last, of Abel C. Nielson of Huntington after a weeks lingering from an ugly wound on bis head inflicted the evening of June 27th, when Hunt, a neighboring fanner living south and east of Huntington, struck him over the head with the blade of a shovel. The assault came as the end to a dispute over the use of irrigating water, the point of division being the scene. The defendant made no attempt to get away but, instead, went in to town for medieal assistance and joined in the search for the wounded man, who, in his pitiful condition wandered abont for some time in the darkness and was finally found huddled in a ditch. The defendant, in custody sinee the killing, has been kept in the Carbon jail at Price the greater part of the time. Former District Judge Jaeob Johnson of Salt Lake City assisted in the defense, which was conducted by George J. Constantine of Price. He was retained by Hunts relatives. District Attorney Dalton prosecuted. The jury is understood to have stood five for first degree murder and the others for a verdict as brought in. Hunt expected one of voluntary manslaughter.
