Show AROUND THE COUNTY SUMMIT COUNTY NEWS MAY 1, 2015 Summit County Pilots Ice House Entrepreneurship Program Coalville - Summit County will pilot a new and innovative program to train aspiring local entrepreneurs in best practices for launching a new business. A highly interactive platform, participants will learn directly from the experience of successful "unlikely" entrepreneurs, or those who came upon business success through non-traditional methods. The overall objective is to empower apprentices by exposing them to entrepreneurial thinking while immersing them in real-world entrepreneurial experiences. Summit County Economic Development Director Jeff Jones will facilitate the pro- gram and local entrepreneurs and business leaders will be invited to visit the class and "share" their story. "As part of the course, learners are encouraged to identify and interact with potential customers as well as local entrepreneurs who can provide essential guidance and support," said Jones. "Community engagement is a critical aspect of this program." Inspired by the life story of Pulitzer nominee Clifton Taulbert, the Ice House Entrepreneurship Program is a powerful learning program designed to educate and engage participants in the fundamental aspects of an entrepreneurial mindset and the unlimited opportunities it can provide. Anyone can apply for the program, including current business owners, those thinking about starting a business in the future, and students who will be high school seniors next year. The program is limited to 10 students. Class begins Thursday, May 14, at the Summit County Courthouse in Coalville and will meet each week throughout the summer. Applicants will be notified of their selection by May 12th. For more information go http: / / summitcounty.org / 68 1 / Ice-HouseEntrepreneurship-Program or scan the QR code below.
