Show SENIOR &HEALTH NEWS PAGE A6 SUMMIT COUNTY NEWS North Summit Senior Citizens BY LOUISE WALLACE Hope all you ladies had a Happy Mother's Day. We celebrated it early on Wednesday the 4th. Rose Maxwell and her helper Dorothy Jensen fixed us a super great turkey dinner topped off with pie and ice cream. Maxine Diston is in charge of the May activities and had picked our treat and each lady received a box of Russell Stover chocolates. The band held a nice practice too, and you might say, we really got the royal treatment. I wasn't there last week so I didn't meet our new member, Cleidi Richins from Henefer. She is one of our youngest members and you can bet we are looking forward to getting to know her. We postponed our April 29 board meeting to May 6 because President, Carma Burns, Board Member, Gen Geary and I were all going to be out of town then. We wish to thank our Vice President, Dorothy Freeman for taking over both Carma's and my duties while we were gone. Our board meeting went really well with all members present plus Vaunade Swensen from the county and Linda Grant who has consented to be our Historian. We didn't have any big problems to solve and we didn't settle any world affairs either, but we did discuss a lot of issues like trips, crafts and things that may or may not ever happen. We didn't get our April reports submitted due to the fact that the computer wasn't cooperating at all. We got one entry in twice and simply wanted to delete it - you can't - while trying we got it in again, not once but twice more. We called for HELP from the Mountainlands offices and they couldn't help but gave us a phone number to call as they are the only office authorized to delete anything or to tell us how to do it ourselves. Well, there wasn't anyone available then so we have to wait until the 10th to get help from them. That means we have to go to the Center on a day that we don't meet and that is a bummer to say the least. Needless to say, I don't like computers. I like my typewriter and adding machine and will stick with them. I guess computers are a lot easier for kids to learn than they are for us over 80. The shopping trip was Thursday with five going and we thank Roger Crittenden for doing the driving. Sterling Banks will be with us on the MAY 11th. What does he do? I'll tell you when I find out. Tonti Lesa Clayton will be with us on the 18th. Happy Feet on the 25th, and that day we are going to enjoy a fun time with a HAT parade. That should be interesting to see what everyone comes up with. It's clean up time for our yards and planting time for the gardeners. If you're one of them this story should fit. A farmer was finishing his planting on a Sunday morn- 13, 2011 ing as the pastor of the local church rode by and stopped. "Brother," the minister lectured him, "don't you know that the Creator made the world in six days and rested on the seventh?" "Yes," said the farmer as he looked uneasily at the rain clouds in the sky. "I know all about that, but He got done and I didn't!" We meet on Wednesdays and Fridays, hope to see you there.
