Show SENIOR & HEALTH NEWS DECEMBER 31, 2010 we don't have all the activities yet but we will have our shopping trip on the 6th. and the county's overnight trip to Wendover is Jan. 31-Feb. 1st. We will be staying at Montego Bay, cost is $46.40 per room, registration and money is due Jan. 10th. We will have more information at the center. If you have a question call Anita Lewis at (435) 336-3220, 615-3220 or 783-4351 ext. 3220. The highlight of our month was they hayride-caroling trip on the 22nd. If you didn't get to see and hear us, we are sorry. Even though it was snowing at the time, it wasn't all that cold but it did get our sheet music sopping wet. Oh well, Barbra Roemmich will just have to make new copies. The singing may not have been the best but I will clue you that by the time we got back to the center we had "I Wish You a Merry Christmas" down pat and we had a great time. Our hayride wouldn't have been possible without North Summit Senior Citizens BY LOUISE WALLACE December has been a busy time for us. Election of officers was held and starting in January 2011 they are as follows: President: Carma Burns, Vice President: Dorothy Freeman, SecretaryTreasurer: Louise Wallace, and Board Members are: LuGene Jones, Louise Judd, Gwen Woolstenhulme, Gen Geary, Barbra Horton and the newest member, Maxine Diston with Linda Grant being the alternate. You can bet, we are looking forward to another good year. Kathy Wilde took our vital signs and we had foot care from Jennifer Hughes who is the daughter of Kathy Mumma from Happy Feet. Kathy is recovering real well PAG E A5 SUMMIT COUNTY NEWS from her recent surgery and if all continues to go well she will be with us again in February. Our holiday dinner was on the 15th. Each member received a nice Hickory Farms gift for which we can thank the generosity of our deceased friend, George W. Perkins, Jr. who makes things like this possible. Then on the 15th we were entertained by Natalie Kershaw's young students. We not only got to meet those cute kids, but we also met a number of t heir parents, grandparents and I think in some cases even great-greatgrandparents. It was delightful time and I must say our dining room was filled almost to capacity. A nice group from the High School Music department came on the 17th. and played bingo with us for an hour, even brought the prizes. I didn't win in case you are interested. They entertained a bit until lunch was ready and then they let us all sit down at the tables and they did the serving. Then, they reluctantly went back to the school. We were really lucky to receive a big bag of candy from Santa by way of Merlyn Johnson and the Lion's club. We also had a wonderful treat form Jay and Lila Donaldson. It was homemade chocolates by Lila. She doesn't do it professionally but she could and it tasted as good as it looked. We had our board meeting on the 17th. Gen Geary will be in charge of January but Tired of pulling? `Fall Classes starting in Clogging ET `ballroom in 'Francis 11 dienefer the help from Denny Wright, Bob Richins and Barney France. They not only provided the flatbed and the hay and did the driving but without the help of their strong arms, I am afraid some of us would not have been able to climb the steps to get a seat on the bales of hay, nor get down either. Thanks guys, we do appreciate you so very much. Margene Simpson and her husband brought her mother, Marjorie Smith in late Friday. Marjorie looks really happy and is living with Margene and is able to spend a lot of time with another daughter, Linda Eugster. She does miss us though and wishes everybody a Merry Christmas. We have her address and phone number if you wish to get it. We send get well wishes to Keith Shaw who still isn't fully over his bout with shingles. Hope he will be much better real soon. Erma came all the time with Kathy Wilde and Cindy McGehee when they brought George Perkins to seniors. Erma has been a resident to the Elk Meadows Retirement center in Oakley the past couple of years. She was always a lovely, elegant lady. Then we say farewell to Cindy McGehee. Her husband, Jim just recently received a promotion in his work and to take advantage of it, they have moved to Gonzales, Louisiana. We will miss seeing Cindy around town and in her shop. She also came in from time to time to play the piano for the band practice. Her shop on Main Street will be open soon if not already under new management. This being the last report of the year, we wish to thank each and everyone who has supported us again this year.
